Why is Quicken duplicating transactions?

When you reactivate your Quicken account, you’ll be asked whether you want to Add, Ignore, or Connect your accounts. If you choose Add rather than Connect, you will end up with duplicate accounts.
To correct this, you must first deactivate the duplicate account before deleting it.
How to Remove Quicken Duplicate Transactions
Quicken for Windows:
Method 1:
- To begin, open Quicken.
- Now, in the account’s top right corner, click on Register Column.
- After that, select the Download ID and press Done.
- Choose Download Id and Download Reference if you want to use a Two-Line Display.
Finally, look at the Download ID, which is different in each case. It essentially aids Quicken in distinguishing between transactions that have been downloaded and those that have not.
Method 2: To deactivate the account, follow these steps:
- To begin, go to Tools and select Account List (Ctrl+A) from the drop-down menu.
- Then, for the account you want to deactivate, click Edit.
- Now go to the Online Services tab, press Deactivate, and then confirm with Yes.
- Follow these steps to reactivate the account:
- To access the Account List, go to Tools and then Account List.
- After that, go to Edit and select the Online Services tab.
- To complete the process, click Set Up Now at the bottom of the page.
- Important: Quicken can retrieve your bank account information when reactivating the account. Make sure you connect your account instead of adding it.
If you notice downloaded transactions in the register several times,
- Go to Account Register as the first move.
- After that, look for duplicate transactions and manually remove them.
- To delete them, click Ctrl+2 at the same time.
- Set it back to Two-line view by pressing Ctrl+2.
Quicken for Mac:
Method 1:
- First and foremost, reactivate your account after it has been deactivated.
- Following that, you must select Link and then Next.
- If you notice any duplicate transactions, you must manually delete them.
- Method number two:
- It’s possible that your bank’s FITID has changed, resulting in duplicate transactions in Quicken.
- If there are duplicate transactions, you must update the FITID and verify your registration again.

- To begin, make a copy of your data backup file.
- Select the account that is having problems, and you will be taken to the Register page.
- Now, choose the first transaction that has been duplicated.
- While holding down the Ctrl key, press the duplicate transactions at the same time.
- After you’ve selected all the duplicate transactions, right-click and select Delete.
